SOME HISTORY OF THE 'OUR LADY OF THE SIERRAS'
IN 1987, GERALD AND PATRICIA CHOUINARD, WHILE HIKING ON A VISIT TO THIS AREA, FOUND A PIECE OF LAND IN ASH CANYON FOR SALE.  IN 1988 THEY PURCHASED EIGHT ACRES AS A BUILDING SITE FOR THEIR RETIREMENT HOME.
IN NOVEMBER OF 1990, ALONG WITH THOUSANDS OF OTHERS, ON A PILGRIMAGE TO MEDJUGORJE, YUGOSLAVIA, THE COUPLE FOUND MANY SIMILARITIES WITH THEIR ARIZONA PROPERTY.
RETURNING, HOUSE CONSTRUCTION BEGAN IN NOVEMBER 1990 AND WAS COMPLETED IN 1991.  FIRE LATER DESTROYED THEIR HOME 10 YEARS LATER.
